Joe Paterno
Joe Paterno
When Joe died I was moved to draw a tribute to his life and accomplishments. Taking hundreds of hours of research and 56-hours of drawing time, I learned all I could about Joe. Regardless of the what transpired at the end of his life, there is no doubt he was an amazing man and helped many, many, young men become all they could be...because of him. And although I am a Pitt graduate, and never was a fan of Penn State, I wanted to draw something special as a tribute to him. The media can be cruel. Inside includes everything from his birth in New York, to his college Fraternity, to his college days, and on to coaching. The artwork includes many of his important stats, as well as some personal affects, and of course many references to Happy Valley!
I even sent one to Sue Pa, and she wrote me a very nice hand written note back. (SEE PIC) And now, to know that this artwork is hanging in the Paterno's home, is truly humbling to me. To know I was able to give a family some comfort, during a very difficult time for them, was very humbling to me. Look close, and look again. Do you see what I see?
